Coach takes us through the Celtics snatching defeat from the jaws of victory once again. This time against the Bucks. Coach gives us 3 trades that NEED to happen around the league. Merry Christmas one and all!
Coach Healy and Bob Ryan are no doubt kindred spirits. They grew up in a time before the 3 point line existed, and they pine for the days when basketball was actually basketball and not an embarrassing shot chart full of missed 3's, bereft of post-ups and midrange shots. We also take a look around the league at the surprising Cavs, and rising Grizzlies, and a hot take for the one move the Celtics can make to improve their locker room before the deadline.
Celts are improving, but still refuse to execute a give and go, literally the oldest play in the history of the game. The Warriors, Phoenix, and Milwaukee are all in top form. Coach thinks Pritchard and Nesmith should be playing in the G league instead of riding the pine behind Richardson. Lakers are floundering. Also, coach wants Rob Williams, who saved tonight's game with a block at the buzzer, "Bill Russell can probably count on one hand the number of times he landed on only one foot!" :)
Coach and Tone take a look at the league 10 games into the season. Also, on the heels of Marcus Smart calling out his teammates in the media to pass the ball more, Coach takes us through the Celtics' leaders both on the court and in the locker room through the years. Spoiler alert: Marcus didn't crack the top 20.
The Celts are off to a rough 2-4 start and oftentimes lose big leads early in the season. Their characteristic defense that was the signature of the Stevens era has not yet returned.
