Greetings Sports Fans!
Tone checks in with Coach at the halfway point of the NBA season. On the heels of Jaylen Brown's first career triple-double, Coach gives some reasons to still believe in the Celtics. Also, they discuss how much more watchable the league would be if everyone just played more like The Warriors.
Greetings Sports Fans! Our host with the most (memories) Coach Healy remembers the humble brilliance of the recently departed Sam Jones, the elite scoring guard of the Celtics Dynasty years from '57-'69.
We also return to the problems that plague the league and modern game and attempt to solve them all!
Happy New Year everyone. Enjoy!
Coach takes us through the Celtics snatching defeat from the jaws of victory once again. This time against the Bucks. Coach gives us 3 trades that NEED to happen around the league. Merry Christmas one and all!
Coach Healy and Bob Ryan are no doubt kindred spirits. They grew up in a time before the 3 point line existed, and they pine for the days when basketball was actually basketball and not an embarrassing shot chart full of missed 3's, bereft of post-ups and midrange shots. We also take a look around the league at the surprising Cavs, and rising Grizzlies, and a hot take for the one move the Celtics can make to improve their locker room before the deadline.
Celts are improving, but still refuse to execute a give and go, literally the oldest play in the history of the game. The Warriors, Phoenix, and Milwaukee are all in top form. Coach thinks Pritchard and Nesmith should be playing in the G league instead of riding the pine behind Richardson. Lakers are floundering. Also, coach wants Rob Williams, who saved tonight's game with a block at the buzzer, "Bill Russell can probably count on one hand the number of times he landed on only one foot!" :)
Coach and Tone take a look at the league 10 games into the season. Also, on the heels of Marcus Smart calling out his teammates in the media to pass the ball more, Coach takes us through the Celtics' leaders both on the court and in the locker room through the years. Spoiler alert: Marcus didn't crack the top 20.
The Celts are off to a rough 2-4 start and oftentimes lose big leads early in the season. Their characteristic defense that was the signature of the Stevens era has not yet returned. Coach takes us through a disappointing start to the season and gives his predictions and rankings for the Western Conference.
Coach and Tone are back to discuss the start of the NBA season, Eastern conference predictions, the top 75 list, new rule changes, and insurance fraud. Welcome back and thanks for listening!
On the eighth anniversary of his father's passing, Coach takes us into the way-back machine to review a great Celtics story of old, examines the recent crop of Hall of Fame inductees, and gives us a pre-season breakdown the eastern conference teams and their chances this year.
Thanks for listening everyone and have a great Labor Day weekend!
In our -last- official podcast of the 20-21 season, Coach breaks down the tough loss the Celts took at the hands of the young and promising Kings squad in the Las Vegas Summer League. Two months and two days until the next season starts; but who's counting?
Coach and Tone break down the Gold Medal game win for Team USA, as well as a brief look into Celtics offseason moves.
The NBA season concludes with middle-market Milwaukee clinching the title on the back of an otherworldly performance from Giannis, who joins the company of Hakeem and MJ as the only players to win MVP, Finals MVP, and Defensive Player of The Year. Coach also takes us through the trials and tribulations of Team USA approaching their first game in pool play vs. France. Sorry for the audio consistency issues on this one, and thanks for listening all season long!
Coach takes us to the origins of the two small market teams vying for this year's NBA Championship. Also, Coach and Tone see a Cape League game. This one is LIVE!
As the East finals wraps up with the Bucks still standing, Coach sets the stage for an exciting Finals matchup between two small markets where the title is truly up for grabs. Happy 4th everyone!
Coach takes us through the most explosive 2nd round of NBA playoffs in recent memory, and we disappear down the fun rabbit hole of Ben Simmons trade ideas! Thanks for listening everyone, and happy belated Father's Day.
In the thick of the 2nd round, the Hawks are improbably 2 games away from making their first East finals since 2015. The Clippers found themselves and evened their series against the Jazz 2-2. The Suns sweep the Nuggets. The Bucks struggle to find their rhythm against the ailing Nets. Durant carries the Nets to victory in a signature performance, pouring in 49, 17, and 10. Coach Healy is here for all of it! Also - In one of his signature monologues, Coach tells Dan Shaughnessy why he is entirely wrong about the Celtics.
Coach breaks down the play-in odds of each team left standing, and gives us a closer look at Kareem Adbul Jabbar, whose life as a social justice advocate and scholar looms even larger than his hall of fame career as a player.
There's panic in Beantown as the media bubbles with lament over the loss of Jaylen Brown, and any hope of making it through the first round of the playoffs. Coach talks the glass-half-empty crowd off the ledge, and offers some argument as to why Trader Danny shouldn't be run out of town.
With Steph Curry going absolutely bananas, and Gary Washburn writing outlandish articles proposing Rondo's place in Springfield, Coach Healy weighs in on that and more as the NBA season marches toward completion. 11 games lay ahead, with teams in both conferences jockeying for playoff position, except for Houston and Minnesota of course.
Coach and Tone discuss first-half surprises, The Celtics bouncing back, when the All Star game use to mean something, and NFT's!
"We're five-twelths of the way through the season, and it looks like the Celtics aren't winning anything this year." Coach takes us through the ripple effects of signing Kyrie three years ago, and what the Celtics have to do to improve beyond their .500 record this year.
Coach and Tone talk about the available options to help the Celtics with interior scoring and lightening the scoring load for their two young stars, backcourt of the present and future, Jason Tatum and Jaylen Brown.
While the West collectively soars 26 games above .500, the East is stumbling through a Covid-wrecked season 26 games below. Taking us through the latest Celtics win, what to do with their trade exception, and some historically good and bad stats from Brooklyn, Coach and Tone have all the takes.
Coach and Tone have fun with way-too-early post-season predictions. Other topics include the resurgence of the big man admid the sprawlball-era, the Celtics Tatum-less struggles, why the Nets are worse after the Harden trade, and a personal rememberance from Coach Healy on the life of the late, great, Henry Aaron.
Greetings Sports Fans! Coach is back to break down the Harden trade, visit some Neighborhood Rules origin stories, and discuss some NEW Neighborhood Rules to pitch to Kyrie if/when he starts a new basketball league.
